Mr. Romas Rudolph Horton was born on November 13, 1944, to the late Romas and Naomi Horton. He departed from his wonderful life as a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all—always making sure all he knew were okay—on April 2, 2026.Upon completion of high school in North Carolina, he relocated to Maryland. He served on the Landlord and Tenant Committee and PMA Board for many years. In 1984, he was named Property Manager of the Year by the IREM Association representing the USA.His greatest passion was his family and flower gardens. His beautiful flower gardens drew much attention, attracting many visitors whether they were driving by or walking past his home. He received the highest award for best flower garden in the state of Maryland and was showcased in several magazines. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Horton of 63 years; two daughters: Pamela Powell and Towanda Horton-Short of Upper Marlboro, MD; two grandsons: Wade A. Powell Jr. (Bria Thomas) of Pittsburgh, PA and Dwayne K. Powell (Philiana Davis) of Fairbanks, AK; two great-granddaughters: Karina Powell and Seiko Powell; three sisters: Mattie Crudup (late James Crudup) of Fort Washington, MD, Peggy Hines and Edna Goodson (Bryant Goodson) of Wendell, NC; four sisters-in-law: Barbara Baker (late Sylvester Baker) of Newport News, VA, Mary Emma Robertson (late William Robertson) of Raleigh, NC, Gloria Horton (late Bishop George Horton) of Raleigh, NC, and Patsey Ann Fox (late Rupert Fox) of Nashville, NC; and two brothers-in-law: Thomas Fox (Jackie Fox) of Raleigh, NC and William Fox of Rocky Mount, NC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, who he cherished during his wonderful life. When Tomorrow Starts Without MeIf tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not here to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.
And said my place was ready in heaven far above,
And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love.I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday just even for a while,
I’d say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile. But then I fully realized that this could never be,
For emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through Heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home,
When God looked down and smiled at me from His great golden throne.
He said, “This is eternity, and all I’ve promised you,”
Today your life on earth is past, but here it starts anew.I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last,
And since each day’s the same way, there’s no longing for the past.
So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.Closing Tribute We love you, and we know Heaven is going to be even more beautiful because of all the beautiful flowers you will be planting. Rest in peace, our faithful servant, for a life of divinity, grace, and spiritual teachings to all that knew you.The family will be having a memorial service at a later date.A Service of Love and Dignity provided by William Toney's Funeral Home, Spring Hope.
