WEATHER ALERT: Strong Thunderstorms Moving Northeast, Gusts Up To 40 MPH

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for multiple counties, warning of strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 40 mph until 7:45 AM EDT today; monitor weather conditions closely.

Residents in Columbus, Dillon, Florence, Marion, Williamsburg, Coastal Horry, Inland Georgetown, Coastal Georgetown, Central Horry, and Northern Horry counties should monitor weather conditions closely. A Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service Wilmington NC due to a line of strong thunderstorms moving through the area.

As of 10:54 AM EDT, these thunderstorms were tracked from near Mullins to 12 miles northwest of Georgetown, moving northeast at 35 mph. The primary hazard is wind gusts up to 40 mph, which could result in downed tree limbs and unsecured objects being blown around.

Locations that may be impacted include Myrtle Beach, Conway, Mullins, Surfside Beach, Red Hill, Socastee, Myrtle Beach Airport, Springmaid Pier, Garden City, Murrells Inlet, Horry, Tabor City, Loris, Fair Bluff, Hickory Grove, Homewood, Adrian, and Bayboro.

This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and expires today, October 11, 2026, at 11:45 AM UTC. Local time for expiration would be 7:45 AM EDT (as UTC is 4 hours ahead of EDT). Please remain alert for threatening weather conditions during this period.
