Homestead residents can now report and track city service issues directly from their smartphones or computers using the new 'Fix It! Homestead' platform. The City of Homestead launched the tool to streamline communication between residents and city service departments, addressing concerns such as potholes, graffiti, broken sidewalks, and codes violations.
The 'Fix It! Homestead' platform functions as a reporting and tracking system. After a resident submits an issue, the system assigns it to the appropriate city department. It also tracks response times and helps identify recurring repair needs across the city. Users receive email updates on their submissions and can check the status of their reported issues online.
For efficient processing, residents should submit separate issues as separate reports. The City of Homestead acknowledges newly submitted issues and forwards them to the relevant departments. While the platform provides updates, it does not serve as a two-way dialogue tool. Residents should understand that some issues may involve multiple utilities and government agencies, potentially extending resolution times.
The 'Fix It! Homestead' app is available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, allowing for easy submissions while out in the city. Photos are encouraged to provide clear context for reported problems. Residents reporting code compliance issues must provide their full name and address, as anonymous code compliance reports will not be investigated. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue does not speed up services and may cause delays.
