Heat Advisory Issued: Dangerous Temperatures Expected Through Thursday
A Heat Advisory is in effect for multiple Bay Area and Central Coast regions until Thursday, October 8, with temperatures reaching up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit, prompting urgent hydration and safety measures.
A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco CA, effective immediately until Thursday, October 8, at 10:00 PM PDT. Residents are advised to take precautions against dangerous heat conditions.
Maximum temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s to near 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Weak onshore flow and mild minimum temperatures will limit overnight relief. This heat level can impact individuals without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration, and may affect health systems, heat-sensitive industries, and infrastructure.
The advisory covers a wide area including the Sonoma Coastal Range, North Bay Interior Mountains, North Bay Interior Valleys, San Francisco Bay Shoreline, East Bay Interior Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley (including San Jose), Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, and Mountains of San Benito County and Interior Monterey County (including Pinnacles National Park).
Hydration is critical. Drink water, and if possible, provide water to vulnerable individuals. When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Seek immediate action if you experience symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
