Pasco County residents facing potential flooding from ongoing heavy rains can access two 24/7 self-serve sandbag stations. The county reminds the public that these locations aim to help protect property in low-lying areas.
The sandbag stations are located at Pasco County Public Works (C-Barn), 30908 Warder Road in San Antonio, and Magnolia Valley Golf Course, 7223 Massachusetts Avenue in New Port Richey. Both sites are open around the clock for county residents. Sand and sandbags will be replenished daily, weather permitting.
Residents using the stations should bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill the sandbags themselves. The county also urges caution around flooded areas with its "Turn Around, Don’t Drown!" reminder, especially during low visibility. Driving through flooded streets can create waves that damage property.
The county highlighted increased risks of mosquito-borne illnesses, such as dengue fever, from standing water. Residents should take preventative measures by regularly draining outdoor containers, emptying and refilling pet water bowls and birdbaths, removing yard debris that traps water, and ensuring gutters and drains flow freely.
