Pasco County Acquires 1,893-Acre 4G Ranch for Conservation

Pasco County and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services jointly purchased 4G Ranch, a 1,893-acre property north of Land O' Lakes, marking the county's largest conservation land acquisition.

The property connects the Southwest Florida Water Management District's Conner Preserve to Pinellas County's Crossbar/Al Bar Ranch, creating a wildlife corridor. The Florida Department of Transportation built an undercrossing on State Road 52 to reduce wildlife collisions.

County Board Chair Jack Mariano said the purchase slows development and protects wildlife habitat. Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson called the partnership between state and local government "a perfect example" of preserving agricultural land and natural resources.
