ICE Agent Kills Man During Arrest Attempt in Houston

HOUSTON – A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, 46, in Houston on Tuesday, May 22, during an attempt to arrest him.

Federal officials stated Araujo attempted to flee the scene and "weaponized his vehicle" toward an officer. The officer then discharged their firearm, striking Araujo.

Araujo's family members and local government officials have since requested a thorough investigation into the incident. Colleen DeGuzman of The Texas Tribune provided additional details regarding the event.
