Study: Medical Expenses Higher for Youth with Diabetes

Youths with diabetes incur substantially higher medical expenses than their counterparts without the disease, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study. The findings appeared in the May issue of the journal *Diabetes Care*.

The study indicates that annual medical expenses for young people with diabetes average $9,061. For youths without diabetes, the average annual medical expense totaled $1,468.
