CDC: One in Five U.S. High School Students Report Non-Prescription Use of Drugs

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that, according to the 2009 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), one in five high school students in the United States admitted to taking prescription drugs without a doctor's authorization.

The survey specifically cited drugs such as OxyContin, Percocet, Vicodin, Adderall, Ritalin, and Xanax as examples of prescription medications used without proper medical oversight, according to the CDC.
