Funeral Mass Friday, June 5, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Drive, El Paso, Texas. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue, El Paso, Texas. </span> </p> <p> <span> <span>  </span> </span> </p> <p> <span> <br/> </span> </p> </div> <div data-rss-type="text"> <p> <span> <br/> </span> </p> <p> <strong>   Ignacio “Nacho” Fernandez </strong> <span> <span> , born July 29, 1941, in El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 18, 2026, at St. Giles Nursing Facility. In his final moments, he was surrounded by the love of his family and the gentle care of the staff and residents who had become like family to him. After a long and full life, he is reunited with his beloved wife, </span> </span> <strong> Olga </strong> <span> <span> , whom he has missed dearly since her passing in 1998. </span> </span> </p> <p> <span> <span>           Nacho was the second child of </span> </span> <strong> Esperanza “Espi” Fernandez </strong> <span> <span> and </span> </span> <strong> Luis Fernandez </strong> <span> <span> . He grew up in a close-knit family and carried that warmth with him throughout his life. He is survived by his siblings </span> </span> <strong> Josefina F. Mendiola </strong> <span> <span> and </span> </span> <strong> Ruben Fernandez </strong> <span> <span> and is preceded in death by his brother </span> </span> <strong> Ramon Fernandez </strong> <span> <span> (2017). </span> </span> </p> <p> <span> <span>           He leaves behind his children, </span> </span> <strong> Ignacio Fernandez Jr. </strong> <span> <span> and </span> </span> <strong> Sarah Fernandez </strong> <span> , </span> </p> <p> <strong>   Visitation </strong> <span> <span> will be held on </span> </span> <strong> June 4, 2026 </strong> <span> <span> , from </span> </span> <strong> 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. </strong> <span> <span> at </span> </span> <strong> San Jose Funeral Home East </strong> <span> <span> , 10950 Pellicano Dr., El Paso, Texas 79935.
