San Bernardino County Wins National Budget Award
San Bernardino County received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for its Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget document. The county earned the recognition 18 times previously.
The award honors state and local governments that meet the highest standards of governmental budgeting. The county's budget book also earned special recognition for Strategic Goals and Strategies, a distinction given when all three independent reviewers score that category at the highest level.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Dawn Rowe said the award reflects the work of the county's finance team, executive leadership and departments. "It highlights the work that goes into developing a budget document that is clear, responsible and transparent," Rowe said.
County CEO Luther Snoke said the recognition validates the effort behind budget preparation. "Our staff worked diligently to prepare a high-quality budget document for Fiscal Year 2025-26," Snoke said.
The Government Finance Officers Association established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to recognize governments that follow guidelines from the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and GFOA's best practices. The award goes to budget documents that function as a policy guide, financial plan, operations manual and communications tool.
The 2025-26 budget and previous budgets are available on the county's website.
