Cody Stromberg Named Herriman Chief of Police

Herriman Promotes Cody Stromberg to Chief of Police

The Herriman City Council appointed Cody Stromberg as chief of police Wednesday, promoting one of the department's four founding members to lead the agency he helped build in 2018.

Stromberg, who previously served as deputy chief and interim chief, has lived in Herriman for more than 25 years. He succeeds Troy Carr, who retired from the position.

"When we embarked on this journey nearly 8 years ago, Chief Carr had a vision for what this department could become," Stromberg said. "I think it's safe to say we achieved what we set out to do and built a police department that the residents and the department members are proud of."

Stromberg's priorities include maintaining community engagement, preserving employee culture, and using data-driven solutions to address public safety challenges.

City Manager Nathan Cherpeski cited Stromberg's role in developing the department from its inception. Mayor Lorin Palmer noted that Stromberg's perspective as both a sworn officer and longtime resident matters to the community.

Stromberg graduated from Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the FBI National Academy. He has led multi-agency task forces throughout Salt Lake County and served on the Utah Law Enforcement Legislative Committee. He coaches varsity football at Herriman High School.

A ceremonial swearing-in takes place May 27 at 7 p.m. at Herriman City Hall, 5355 W. Main Street.
