Walczyk presents Youth Art Month proclamation at Herkimer Middle-High School

State Sen. Mark Walczyk visited Herkimer Middle-High School on April 24 to present a Youth Art Month proclamation recognizing the district's arts programs.

Walczyk presented the proclamation to art teacher Heather McCutcheon and students in her classroom, then toured the school's music and art offerings. He listened to the Jazz Band perform, viewed student artwork, and watched the Show Choir sing.

Caroline Lampert's civics class used the visit to question Walczyk about state government and policy issues.

Youth Art Month, held each March nationally, emphasizes arts education in schools. The proclamation acknowledged Herkimer Central School District's commitment to its arts programming.

Photos from the visit are available on the Herkimer Central School District Facebook page at www.facebook.com/HerkimerCSD.
