Dense Fog Advisory: Drive with Caution Until 11 AM CDT
A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles until 11 AM CDT today, September 28, 2026, by the National Weather Service, urging drivers to slow down and use headlights due to reduced visibility.
AMARILLO, TX – Drivers in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles are advised to slow down, use headlights, and increase following distance due to a Dense Fog Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Amarillo, effective immediately until 11:00 AM CDT today, September 28, 2026.
Visibility is currently reduced to one-quarter to one-half mile in affected areas. The advisory covers a broad region including the Texas counties of Beaver, Dallam, Sherman, Hansford, Ochiltree, Lipscomb, Hartley, Moore, Hutchinson, Roberts, Oldham, Potter, Carson, Gray, Deaf Smith, and Randall, as well as Palo Duro Canyon.
Hazardous driving conditions are expected due to low visibility. The NWS stresses the importance of adjusting driving habits to ensure safety. Drivers should activate their headlights and maintain ample distance between their vehicle and others on the road.
