The Voice of Phillis Wheatley Comes to Life at the Plainfield Performing Arts Center
The Union County Board of County Commissioners, through the Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, is set to present a special performance featuring Dr. Daisy Century as Phillis Wheatley. The event, honoring National Poetry Month and the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, will take place at the Plainfield Performing Arts Center.
Phillis Wheatley is recognized as the first published African-American poet and the first African-American female published writer. Dr. Century's portrayal aims to bring Wheatley's significant contributions to life for attendees.
The performance is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Residents interested in attending are encouraged to mark their calendars for this cultural and historical presentation.
