67 Henderson County Seniors Earn $1M in Scholarships
Henderson County Public Schools honored 67 high-achieving seniors at the annual Top Scholars Banquet on May 14 at Blue Ridge Community College, sponsored by AdventHealth.
The Class of 2026 scholars earned more than $1 million in scholarships and grants combined. They maintained an average GPA of 4.48 and scored an average 28.7 on the ACT.
Beyond academics, the scholars volunteered with over 85 community organizations across Western North Carolina and balanced coursework with school sports, marching bands, theatre productions, robotics competitions, and student government.
"These 67 students represent far more than strong academic achievement," Superintendent Mark R. Garrett said. "Through their involvement in their schools and communities, they have demonstrated character, resilience, and a commitment to making a difference."
Fifty of the scholars plan to attend colleges and universities within North Carolina. The Top Scholars represent all six HCPS high schools: Henderson County Early College, Hendersonville High School, North Henderson High School, East Henderson High School, Henderson County Career Academy, and West Henderson High School.
Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2026 took place May 22 at staggered times for each high school.
