University of Montevallo Among Alabama's 5 Safest Campuses

The University of Montevallo placed among the top five safest college campuses in Alabama, according to Niche's 2026 rankings released May 14.
Niche based its assessment on campus crime rates, local crime rates, and student reviews, drawing data from the U.S. Department of Education.
Brian Prady, UM's chief of police and director of public safety, attributed the ranking to collaboration across the university community. "Working with such a tight-knit community is a blessing in law enforcement," Prady said. He noted that students, faculty, and staff working with campus police on safety initiatives allows everyone to "study, teach and support the best they know how."
