Federal authorities are continuing their investigation into a multistate outbreak of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic illness. Officials are attempting to pinpoint the precise source of the outbreak, which they have associated with lettuce.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that a lettuce sample from Taylor Farms, previously identified as positive for cyclospora, provided a false positive result. This development has altered earlier findings in the ongoing investigation.

More than 7,000 cases of cyclosporiasis have been reported across the nation. The parasitic infection can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue.
