Strong Thunderstorms with 40 mph Winds Tracking North Through Local Counties

Residents in Coffee, Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Atkinson, Echols, Clinch, and Northern Ware counties should monitor weather conditions closely as a Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL.

As of 12:41 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicates strong thunderstorms extending from Snipesville to Du Pont, moving north at 55 mph. Hazards include possible landspouts and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible, and gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured items.

Areas including Douglas, Baxley, Hazlehurst, Alma, Homerville, Pearson, Willacoochee, Broxton, and Ambrose are expected to be impacted. This Special Weather Statement is effective until 1:45 PM EDT today, October 10, 2026.
