FORREST COUNTY — A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Forrest County by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, MS, effective immediately as of October 9 at 3:56 PM CDT. The warning remains in effect until October 10 at 12:00 AM UTC.

Residents should prepare for potential wind gusts up to 45 mph, although sustained winds are expected to remain below tropical storm force. Community officials are currently assessing realized impacts from wind. While the threat from wind remains, little to no additional wind impacts are expected.

The NWS also advises planning for localized flooding due to heavy rain, though no additional significant rainfall is forecast. Those in flood-vulnerable areas should consider protective actions. Rivers and tributaries may experience swifter currents, and small streams and ditches could overflow. Localized flooding may lead to some evacuations, property damage, and brief road closures.

The tornado threat remains low, with tornadoes not expected in the area. Showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds may still occur. Residents are advised to stay informed of the latest forecasts from the NWS and heed any flood watches and warnings.
