Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up To 46 MPH Expected Through Sunday Morning

A Wind Advisory is in effect for parts of Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina until Sunday at 8 AM EDT, with gusts up to 46 mph expected. Secure loose outdoor items and exercise caution while driving.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for portions of Northeast Georgia, Western North Carolina, and Upstate South Carolina. Gusts up to 46 mph are expected, and residents should take precautions to secure outdoor objects and be aware of potential driving difficulties.

The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Greenville-Spartanburg SC, is effective immediately, October 10, 2026, at 2:38 AM EDT, and will remain in effect until 8:00 AM EDT on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Affected areas include:

  • Georgia: Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart, Elbert counties.
  • North Carolina: Avery, Henderson, Caldwell Mountains, Burke Mountains, McDowell Mountains, Rutherford Mountains, Polk Mountains.
  • South Carolina: Anderson, Abbeville, Greenwood, Oconee Mountains, Pickens Mountains, Greenville Mountains, Greater Oconee, Greater Pickens, Central Greenville, Southern Greenville.

Impacts from the strong east winds (10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 46 mph) include unsecured objects being blown around, potential downed tree limbs, and isolated power outages. Driving may be particularly difficult for high-profile vehicles.

The NWS advises using extra caution while driving and recommends staying tuned to local radio, television, or NOAA Weather Radio for further information and updates.
