Heat Advisory Issued for San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Foothills
A Heat Advisory has been issued for the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Foothills, with temperatures up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit expected from Saturday morning until Sunday evening.
Residents across the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Foothills should prepare for dangerously high temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) Hanford has issued a Heat Advisory, effective from Saturday, October 2nd, at 11 AM PDT until Sunday, October 3rd, at 10 PM PDT.
High temperatures are expected to reach up to 103 degrees Fahrenheit during this period. The advisory covers a wide area, including the West Side Mountains north of 198, Los Banos - Dos Palos, Merced - Madera - Mendota, Planada - Le Grand - Snelling, Coalinga - Avenal, West Side of Fresno and Kings Counties, Caruthers - San Joaquin - Selma, Fresno-Clovis, West Side Mountains South of 198, Buttonwillow - Lost Hills - I5, Delano-Wasco-Shafter, Hanford - Corcoran - Lemoore, Visalia - Porterville - Reedley, Buena Vista, Bakersfield, Southeast San Joaquin Valley, South End San Joaquin Valley, Mariposa Madera Foothills, Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra, Fresno-Tulare Foothills, Fresno-Tulare Lower Sierra, South End Sierra Foothills, and the South End of the Lower Sierra.
The NWS warns that these hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses, posing a moderate to major risk, especially for those without effective cooling or hydration. To stay safe, residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, remain in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
