Hampton Bays Middle School students create dragon art inspired by 'Good Different'

Hampton Bays Middle School students completed a schoolwide art project connecting the novel "Good Different" by Meg Eden Kuyatt to dragon-themed artwork that celebrates individuality.

Students across all grade levels participated in the project following a schoolwide read-aloud. Fifth graders designed colorful dragon eggs in oil pastel and drew dragon eyes in colored pencil. Sixth graders created close-up dragon eyes using oil pastels. Seventh and eighth graders sculpted three-dimensional dragon eyes from clay.

Art teacher Adrienne Gagliardi said the project allowed students to interpret the book's themes about neurodiversity and self-acceptance through hands-on creative work.
