Special Weather Statement: Strong Storms Headed for Suwannee, Western Hamilton
A Special Weather Statement is in effect for Suwannee and Western Hamilton counties until 11:15 PM EDT tonight, October 10, with strong thunderstorms bringing wind gusts up to 40 mph; seek shelter indoors if you are outside.
Residents in Suwannee and Western Hamilton counties should be aware of strong thunderstorms currently moving through the area. The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective until 11:15 PM EDT tonight, October 10, 2026.
As of 10:25 PM EDT, radar indicated a line of showers and strong thunderstorms extending from north of Madison to northwest of Steinhatchee. These storms are moving northeast at 25 mph. The primary hazard is wind gusts around 40 mph, which could lead to downed tree limbs and unsecured objects being blown around.
Locations that may be impacted include Suwannee River State Park, Dowling Park, Blue Springs, Luraville, and Newburn. If you are outdoors, the National Weather Service advises seeking shelter inside a sturdy building.
