Halifax County residents and property owners can obtain a free library card, according to library policy. For those not meeting these criteria, a fee applies for a library card.

Cardholders are permitted to borrow up to 10 items simultaneously. Most items have a two-week checkout period, while DVDs are limited to a one-week loan.

Renewals are possible for most items twice, provided no other patron has placed a hold on the material. Specific guidelines for using the library's computers and internet access are detailed in the Computer and Internet Use Policy.
