High Wind Warning Issued: Secure Loose Objects Now

A High Wind Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City GA, effective immediately until 8:00 AM EDT on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Residents are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.
East winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Stronger gusts are possible in the higher elevations of the north Georgia mountains. The affected areas include Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Banks, Jackson, Madison, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, North Fulton, Gwinnett, Barrow, Clarke, Oconee, Haralson, Carroll, Douglas, South Fulton, DeKalb, Rockdale, and Walton counties.
The NWS warns that damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines, with widespread power outages expected. Travel will be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs, and use caution if you must drive during this period.
