Residents in northeastern Guthrie County and west-central Dallas County are advised to seek immediate shelter as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 10:00 PM CDT tonight, October 8, 2026. This warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Des Moines, IA.
At 9:32 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Lake Panorama, approximately 6 miles northeast of Guthrie Center, moving southeast at 30 mph. The primary hazard associated with this storm is quarter-size hail, which radar indicates will likely cause damage to vehicles.
Affected areas include Guthrie Center, Panora, Lake Panorama, Redfield, Diamondhead Lake, Yale, Linden, Springbrook State Park, and Lakin Slough Game Management Area.
For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building immediately. The warning expires at 10:00 PM CDT.
