Wildfires prompt evacuations in France and Spain

BORDEAUX, France -- Authorities evacuated 55,000 people in southwestern France overnight Sunday as wildfires continued to spread. This latest displacement brought the total number of individuals evacuated from their homes in one specific region to 220,000.

The fires moved closer to Bordeaux, a city known for its wine region. Firefighting efforts continued in the affected areas.

Simultaneously, Spain also conducted fire evacuations. These actions occurred on the country's east coast as firefighters worked to contain separate blazes.
