Butler County, AL – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, AL has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Butler County, effective immediately as of 3:55 PM CDT today, October 9, 2026. This severe alert primarily impacts Greenville and surrounding areas, urging residents to shelter from dangerous winds.
Forecasters anticipate peak winds of 55-75 mph with gusts up to 95 mph, equivalent to strong tropical storm force, lasting until Saturday morning. Hurricane force winds are possible until early Saturday morning. Last-minute efforts to protect life and property should be complete. Residents must shelter now from these dangerous winds.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Additional rainfall of 3-6 inches, with locally higher amounts, is expected, posing a potential for major flooding.
