Tropical Storm Watch Issued for Greenville: Prepare for 45-60 mph Winds

Residents of Greenville in Butler County must urgently prepare as a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile, AL. This watch, effective October 7 at 4:03 PM CDT, indicates that tropical storm-force winds are possible within the next 48 hours.

Wind speeds are forecast to reach 45-60 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, beginning Friday evening and lasting until Saturday morning. There is a potential for winds to reach 58 to 73 mph. Significant damage to roofing, siding, mobile homes, and trees is possible, leading to impassable roads and scattered power outages. Efforts to protect life and property should be underway now.

Additionally, 3-6 inches of rain are expected, with localized higher amounts, potentially causing moderate flooding. Rivers and streams may overflow, and some structures could experience water intrusion. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
