A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Greene County, effective immediately from 4:07 AM CDT on October 9th until 12:15 PM CDT today, October 9th. This warning, issued by the NWS Mobile AL, impacts the areas of Leakesville and McLain.

Residents should plan for hazardous winds reaching 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Complete all property protection efforts as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Limited impacts are expected, including potential damage to awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes, along with broken tree limbs and scattered power outages.

Moderate flooding rain is also anticipated, with around 1 inch of rainfall. Emergency plans should include the potential for moderate flooding, as evacuations and rescues are possible. Heed any flood watches and warnings; failure to take action may result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and tributaries may become swollen, and some structures may experience floodwaters. Hazardous driving conditions are expected on some roads and bridges.

Tornadoes are not expected at this time. For local information, contact the Greene County EMA at 601-394-5627. For storm impacts, visit www.weather.gov/mob.
