The City of Grayling Planning Commission is comprised of seven members who are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Each member serves a three-year term.
The current members of the commission are Chairperson Mike Gavlak, Vice Chairperson Mark Spletzer, Secretary Larry West, Dan Griffith, Gary Gage, Marilyn Schumann, and George Lusk.
The Planning Commission holds significant responsibilities in shaping Grayling's development. Their duties include the preparation, adoption, and amendment of the City’s Master Plan. They also conduct site plan reviews and special land use reviews. Furthermore, the commission reviews and makes recommendations on proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance. The City Council may also assign other duties to the commission.
Regular meetings of the Planning Commission are held on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m. and take place in the City Hall Conference Room, located at 1020 City Hall Court, Grayling, MI 49738.
