Tornado Risk Near Juliette: Seek Shelter Immediately
A Special Weather Statement has been issued for parts of Butts, Jasper, Monroe, and Jones counties due to an enhanced risk of a brief tornado near Juliette; residents outdoors should seek shelter immediately.
Residents in parts of Butts, Jasper, Monroe, and Jones counties are advised to seek shelter immediately due to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service Peachtree City, GA. A strong storm within a tropical rainband, currently located over Juliette, or 9 miles northeast of Forsyth, is moving north at 25 mph.
This storm carries an enhanced risk of a brief tornado, based on radar indications at 8:41 AM EDT. The National Weather Service warns that storms embedded within this rainband have exhibited localized rotation, and a brief tornado could form quickly.
The affected locations include McElheneys Crossroads, Berner, Juliette, Adgateville, and Plant Scherer. This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and is set to expire at 9:15 AM EDT today, October 10, 2026.
People outdoors in these areas should seek safe shelter without delay.
