The Power of Not Answering Right Away
A boundary does not always sound like “no.” Sometimes it sounds like, “Let me check and get back to you,” especially when your mouth is sprinting ahead of your actual capacity.
Why Shakespeare’s “Summer’s Day” Never Gets Old
Shakespeare begins with a familiar compliment, then quietly pulls the poem away from weather and into permanence. The trick is not saying someone is beautiful—it’s showing what beauty can survive.

Attention Is a Form of Generosity
Simone Weil believed attention was more than concentration: it was an ethical act, a way of admitting that another person or idea exists beyond the borders of the self. That makes this small, severe sentence surprisingly useful for an ordinary day.

The Immersive Art Boom Needs to Stop Making Us Stand in a Giant Projection
I love being surrounded by color. I do not love paying museum prices to watch Van Gogh’s stars wobble across a warehouse floor while a piano softly apologizes. Immersive exhibitions can be wonderful—but only when they remember the art is not wallpaper.

Hico, Texas: Pie, Back Roads, and a Surprisingly Good Dinosaur Problem
Hico is the kind of Texas town you pass once and then spend years wondering why you didn’t stop. Park downtown, order the chicken-fried steak at the Koffee Kup, and leave room for a slice of pie because self-control is not a road-trip virtue.

Class B & C Road Program The Class B & C road system with a funding program was established by the Utah Legislature in 1937 as a means of providing assistance to counties and incorporated municipalities for the improvement of roads and streets throughout the State. The funds differ from ordinary local revenues inasmuch as they are subject to administrative direction by the State in accordance with legislative provisions. The Utah Department of Transportation (opens in a new tab) is the administrative authority on behalf of the State (Utah Code 72-2-109). The procedures and regulations are designed to function by mutual accord among all agencies concerned. They have the approval and endorsement of both the Utah Association of Counties (opens in a new tab) and the Utah League of Cities and Towns (opens in a new tab). Class B & C Roads: All public highways, roads, or streets that are designated as Class B by the county or Class C by the municipality having jurisdictional authority to do so. Counties and municipalities cannot designate Class B or Class C roads outside of their geographical boundaries, with the exception that Class B roads can exist inside municipal boundaries (Utah Codes 17-50-305, 72-3-103, and 72-3-104).
