Congo Ebola Outbreak Escalates, Cases Exceed 4,600

GOMA, DR Congo – The Democratic Republic of Congo is experiencing an escalating Ebola outbreak, with health authorities confirming over 4,600 cases. The number of fatalities has reached more than 2,100 people.

Epidemiologist Dr. Anne Rimoin, who directs the Center for Global Health Security at UCLA, discussed the ongoing crisis. She observed that the current outbreak's death toll developed nearly three times faster than a previous outbreak over a decade ago. William Brangham also discussed the situation.
