Horizon Elementary's Third Graders All Pass State Reading Test

Every third-grader at Horizon Elementary passed the IREAD assessment, earning the school state recognition for reading proficiency.

The Indiana Department of Education honored schools statewide that achieved a 95% or higher pass rate on IREAD. Horizon reached 100%.

Across Penn-Harris-Madison schools, 93.7% of third-graders passed IREAD in 2025, up 6.9 percentage points from the prior year. The district credited its focus on early literacy instruction.
