Residents in Koochiching, North Itasca, Central St. Louis, North St. Louis, and Northern Cook and Lake Counties must take immediate steps to protect sensitive plants and outdoor plumbing from sub-freezing temperatures expected tonight.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Duluth has issued a Freeze Warning, effective from 1 AM to 9 AM CDT on Monday, October 5th. Temperatures as low as 28 degrees Fahrenheit are anticipated during this period.

These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The NWS advises all affected individuals to take preventative measures now to mitigate potential damage.
