World Migratory Bird Day in Boulder County - May 16

Staff Writer
May 14, 2026

Boulder County residents can celebrate World Migratory Bird Day on Saturday, May 16, at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat in Gunbarrel. The event marks Boulder's official recognition as a Bird City by the Bird City Network.

Attendees will watch a live bird-of-prey showcase and join guided bird walks in English and Spanish. The Butterfly Pavilion, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Boulder Audubon Society, Harlequin's Gardens, and the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation will staff educational stations. Families can participate in bird identification games and hands-on activities.

World Migratory Bird Day falls on the second Saturday of May in Canada and the U.S. Registration is required.
