Parfet Park Closes for Grass Restoration Project
The city's Parks Department hydroseeded Parfet Park this week to repair turf damage that left nearly half the heavily used community space bare ground. Staff installed temporary fencing to protect the seeds during germination.
Bare soil causes erosion, dust, and weed growth while allowing rainfall and sediment to flow into Clear Creek. New grass will absorb water and reduce runoff.
The Parks Department prioritizes Parfet Park maintenance because residents use it daily for recreation and community events. Irrigation will run during daytime hours for several weeks as the grass establishes, then decrease once growth advances.
Temporary fencing remains through the first week of June. The park expects to reopen shortly after. Walkways, some picnic tables, restrooms, public transit stops, and sections near the creek stay open during restoration.
