Golden Awards $350,000 in Arts Grants to Local Organizations
The City of Golden distributed $350,000 through its inaugural Arts and Culture Commission grant program, the largest direct city investment in the local creative sector.
Three cultural institutions received operating support: Miner's Alley Playhouse, Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, and Foothills Art Center. The Colorado Environmental Film Festival and Colorado Railroad Museum also received operating grants to expand programming.
Project-based grants supported adult music education, trail improvements, school performance infrastructure, creative wellness programming, maker activities, and the Shiny Sphere Search, a community scavenger hunt featuring hand-blown glass orbs.
Additional recipients included The Golden Concert Choir, Friends of Dinosaur Ridge, Golden Wellness, Stories Worth Telling, and the Shelton PTSA.
"These grants reflect that arts and culture matter in Golden," Nathan Richie, Arts, Culture and Museums Manager, said in a statement. "This investment shows the City values creativity and the organizations that bring people together."
The Arts and Culture Commission designed the program to strengthen Golden's creative infrastructure while ensuring public dollars deliver local impact.
