Gene Thorne Hired as Animal Control Officer in Payson

Gila County Animal Care and Control hired Gene Thorne as an animal control officer for the Payson area. Thorne spent 20 years with the Arizona Department of Corrections before retiring.

"His experience, dedication to public service, and strong work ethic will be a tremendous asset to the residents and animals of the Payson area," said John "JC" Castaneda, program manager for Gila County Animal Care and Control.

Thorne will focus on public safety, animal welfare, and community service across northern Gila County. He spends his free time outdoors exploring Arizona's landscapes.
