Unauthorized Hydrant Flushing Causes Rusty Water in Sturgis

A private enterprise flushed hydrants without authorization Tuesday morning, leaving rusty water flowing through taps across Sturgis' historic neighborhoods around 11 a.m. on May 12.

City officials identified the unauthorized flushing as the cause. Residents experiencing continued rusty water should contact the Department of Public Services at 273-1845.
