Strong Thunderstorm Threatens Glasscock and Reagan Counties
A strong thunderstorm is impacting Glasscock and Reagan counties, bringing wind gusts up to 55 mph, pea-sized hail, and torrential rain with potential flooding. Seek shelter if outdoors and avoid flooded roads.
Residents in Glasscock and Reagan counties, particularly near Stiles and Saint Lawrence, should be aware of a strong thunderstorm currently impacting the area. The National Weather Service (NWS) Midland/Odessa TX issued a Special Weather Statement at 11:30 PM CDT on September 26, 2026.
At the time of issuance, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm 14 miles southwest of Garden City, moving southeast at 15 mph. This storm is capable of producing wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea-sized hail. Gusty winds could potentially knock down tree limbs and displace unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is also possible.
Torrential rainfall is accompanying this storm, which may lead to localized flooding. If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Drivers are advised not to drive their vehicles through flooded roadways. The Special Weather Statement is effective until 12:00 AM CDT on September 27, 2026.
