Residents in the Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Oregon and Washington, Foothills of the Blue Mountains of Oregon, Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon, North Central Oregon, Yakima Valley, and Simcoe Highlands should prepare for strong winds. The National Weather Service (NWS) Pendleton has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 8 AM to 11 PM PDT on Friday, September 25.

Southwest to west winds are expected to reach 20 to 35 mph, with gusts potentially as high as 40 to 55 mph. The strongest winds are anticipated during the afternoon and early evening hours. These conditions could make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and may lead to falling tree limbs and isolated power outages. Unsecured outdoor objects could also be blown around.

The NWS advises immediate action: secure all outdoor objects to prevent them from being displaced by strong gusts. Drivers should exercise extra caution, especially those operating high-profile vehicles. Be aware that patchy blowing dust may reduce visibility without warning; be prepared for sudden changes in road conditions.
