Six arrested after wild multi-state chase tied to Wilmington carjacking
The pursuit began on Interstate 495 in Delaware and crossed state lines into New Jersey before law enforcement boxed in the suspects at 3rd and Jackson streets in Wilmington around 12:30 p.m. The suspects abandoned their vehicles and fled on foot, eventually being apprehended at the Adams Four shopping center.
Police arrested six people across two vehicles: 18-year-old Jaiden Scott of New Castle, 18-year-old Baron Wilmer of Wilmington, and a 14-year-old male from New Castle were in a carjacked Honda Accord. The second vehicle, a red Kia, carried 18-year-old Ayden Drummond of Frankford, 18-year-old Amir Carr-Powell of Wilmington, and a 16-year-old male from Wilmington. All six face charges related to the chase, and the 14-year-old is also charged in connection with a December 18 shooting.
New Castle County authorities recovered two firearms during the incident. The carjacking that occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike is being investigated by New Jersey State Police, while the Delaware investigation remains active and ongoing. Police are seeking any surveillance or cellphone video from the public related to what authorities are describing as a crime spree.
