A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Palouse, Blue Mountains, and Columbia Basin regions, with gusts up to 45 mph expected from 11 AM to 9 PM PDT on Friday, September 25, 2026. Drivers are urged to use extra caution due to strong winds and reduced visibility from blowing dust.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Idaho Palouse, Northeast Blue Mountains, Lower Garfield and Asotin Counties, Washington Palouse, Moses Lake Area, Upper Columbia Basin, and Waterville Plateau, effective from 11 AM to 9 PM PDT on Friday, September 25, 2026. The National Weather Service Spokane WA issued the advisory today, September 24, 2026, at 5:38 PM PDT.
Residents in these areas, including Alpowa Summit, Genesee, Pullman, Othello, La Crosse, Plummer, Rosalia, Oakesdale, Ephrata, Peola, Coulee City, Uniontown, Tekoa, Potlatch, Quincy, Pomeroy, Ritzville, Moscow, Anatone, Creston, Odessa, Clarkston, Mansfield, Wilbur, Harrington, Waterville, Colfax, and Moses Lake, should prepare for southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph.
Gusty winds are expected to blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result. Drivers should be aware that blowing dust may reduce visibility to less than one mile. Winds of this strength can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The National Weather Service advises using extra caution while driving during this period.
