Local students recognized for achievement on rigorous Advanced Placement exams

Eleven students from Carolyn Beatrice Parker Elementary School in Gainesville have been honored for their exceptional performance on Advanced Placement (AP) exams during the 2022-23 school year. These students earned scores of 3 or higher, signifying a college-level understanding in their chosen subjects, and were recognized as AP Scholars by the College Board.
AP exams are challenging, college-level assessments administered annually by the College Board. Achieving a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam can make students eligible for college credit or advanced placement at many universities and colleges across the United States, potentially saving families significant tuition costs, much like the opportunities offered at nearby institutions.
The recognized students include three AP Scholars with Distinction, awarded to those with an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams.
