The Charlton County Board of Tax Assessors has two vacant positions open after being amended from three members to five members. Two new board members will be appointed by the Board of Commissioners to fulfill a specially designated term for the newly created positions. The Board of Tax Assessors is responsible for ensuring that all property is valued fairly, correcting errors in all real and personal property county tax returns, examining and considering appeals, and ensuring the office of the Tax Assessors is function appropriately.
