Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment, including scanners, computers, fax machines, and copying machines.Must be able to move or carry objects or materials.Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force frequently.Must be adaptable to performing under considerable stress and working under strict legal parameters.High School diploma or equivalent required.Must not have felony or misdemeanor convictions. Excludes minor traffic infractions such as speeding. Starting pay $15.50+ depending on experience. The Charlton County Board of Tax Assessors has two vacant positions open after being amended from three members to five members. Two new board members will be appointed by the Board of Commissioners to fulfill a specially designated term for the newly created positions. The Board of Tax Assessors is responsible for ensuring that all property is valued fairly, correcting errors in all real and personal property county tax returns, examining and considering appeals, and ensuring the office of the Tax Assessors is function appropriately. The Board of Tax Assessors consists of five members, which are required to complete specialized training as set forth by the state.Applicants must:Be at least 21 years oldHold a high school diploma or equivalentReside within Charlton CountyBe able to complete 40 hours of training within first 180 days of appointmentAttend monthly meetings***Additional requirements as applicable under state law will apply*** Interested parties should return an application and resume to the Board of Commissioners Office by 5 PM on 7/10/2026 either in person at 68 Kingsland Drive, Suite B, Folkston GA 31537 or via email at [email protected].
