Stargazing at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park
Stargazing at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park Are you curious about the night sky? Join park rangers and members of the Alachua Astronomy Club for constellation tours and telescope viewing at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. We will have telescopes set up and trained on planets, nebulae and galaxies. This event is free with regular park admission. When: January 6, 2024, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Where: Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, La Chua Trail parking lot. From US 441, take SE 15th Street/US 441, go south 1.7 miles, turn left onto Camp Ranch Road, go 0.2 miles, turn right into La Chua Trail parking lot. What to bring: Water, snacks, flashlight, binoculars, insect repellent and chairs are recommended. Please, no pets. Accessibility: The viewing area is accessible via paved surfaces.
