Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Gadsden: Act Now for Safety
Gadsden County is under an immediate Tropical Storm Warning, issued by NWS Tallahassee FL, with residents urged to prepare for hazardous winds, potential major flooding, and the possibility of tornadoes.
Gadsden County is under an Immediate Tropical Storm Warning, effective October 8 at 11:05 PM EDT, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. Residents in Quincy and Chattahoochee should take immediate action to secure property and prepare for hazardous conditions.
The NWS forecasts peak winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, but warns of potential wind speeds between 39 to 57 mph. Prepare for limited wind damage, including downed tree limbs and potential power outages. Secure outdoor items now.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 4-8 inches of rain possible, leading to potential major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely in flood-prone areas. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to do so could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may rapidly overflow, and many roads could become impassable.
The NWS also indicates conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. Scattered tornadoes could cause significant damage, power loss, and communication failures.
